What is "transfer line location"? Relocation and reinstallation are deleted in TA#6. There are now only two categories: transfer line location and new installaiton. Transfer Line Location applies when a customer request to move a fixed line telephone account within the same exchange number area (NXX). New Installation applies if customer request to move a fixed line telephone account to a different exchange number area (NXX). Top
What exactly is covered by the Inside Wiring Maintenance (IMP)? The IMP covers trouble-shooting and repair and/or replacement of existing inside wire and jacks (but not telephone equipment).The PNCC technician will determine if customer-owned equipment is the cause of any problems, and repair or replace the existing in Top side wiring and jacks as required. Customers who do not want this option will be charged labor and materials for each job requested.
What about multi-line business customers who don't have PNCC key systems? PNCC will provide trouble sh Top ooting & repair service up to the NID only.
What is the Inside Wiring Maintenance Plan (IMP)? IMP is an optional "insurance plan" for PNCC to maintain and repair existing inside wiring and modular jacks (for single telephone lines only), at $3.00 per line per month. Customers without the IMP will be charged time and materials for repair services performed by PNCC (at $50.00 per modular jack), or they can choose to have the work done by other vendors. Top
If I ask for transfer line location at $12.10, do I have to pay a new pre-wiring fee if there is associated IW work required? If the new location is already pre-wired then only the transfer fee of $12.10 applies. If the ne Top w location is not pre-wire, then the $50 Additional Wiring fee (per each modular jack) applies in addition to the transfer fee of $12.10.
Can the customer have all 250 ft of the wire if there is left over after installation? No, only the amount needed for the requested installation is included in the wiring fee. The 250 foot limitation is set as a cap to determine addition Top al charges if the installation requires more than the usual amount of inside wire.
What is included in the Additional Wiring Fee?The Wiring Fee of $50.00 includes all labor and materials to complete the installation of one modular jack with inside wiring up to the NID (Network Interface Device). Up to 250 feet of inside wire is included; additional feet of inside wire will be charged Top at the prevailing rate (currently $0.43 cents per foot).
What is included in the Wiring Fee ($18.00)? The initial Wiring Fee of $18.00 includes all labor and materials to complete the installation of inside wiring uo to the NID (Network Interface Device) for one standard telephone line (one modular jack). Up to 250 feet of inside wire is included; additional feet of inside wire will be charged at Top the prevailing rate (currently nts per foot), and additional jacks will be charged at the prevailing rate, currently $2.40 per jack.
What are the NEW Telephone Wiring Repair Service effective January 1, 2009? Deregulation of Inside Wiring in PNCC Tariff Advice #6 means that customers will own and maintain their inside telephone wiring and equip Top ment (i.e. inside wiring services and repair will no longer be provided free of charge by PNCC).

What are the changes to the local fixed line service rates? As approved by the PNCC Board of Directors in PNCC Tariff Advice #6, a 10% increase for Residential and Business/Government Fixed Line Telephone Service is effective January 1, 2009, as follows:

What is included in the installation fee of $22.00? Effective January 1, 2009, installation provides the activation of dial tone service up to the NID (Network Interface Device) and does not include inside wiring. Top
How many jacks are included in the wiring fee? The wiring fee includes one modular jack and up to 250 feet of inside wire. Each additional jack installation will be charged at $50.00. Inside wire over 250 ft will be charged at the p Top revailing rate (currently $0.43 cents per foot).
If I am a business cust Top omer can I sign up for the IMP? Yes, if you have single-line telephone accounts. IMP is for single line customers.
What if my business has a multi-line telephone system (key system or PABX)? Please contact the PNCC Sales Section at 488-9600 for more information on the Key System Maintenance agreement option for multi- Top line customers with key systems of PBX's from PNCC.
What happens if I am not signed up for the IMP and I call PNCC (611) with a trouble report? If the trouble is in the outside plan (up to NID) then there is no charge for trouble-shooting and repairs.

If the trouble is inside the customer location (up to the NID) then labor and materials will be charged for trouble-shooting and repairs.

Definitions

Extension: Additional outlet for a single-line telephone that is located on the same premises. This service is deregulated. Customers can install their own. Requests to have PNCC provide etension of current residential telephone account to other location will be charged for time and supplies used.

Customer Premises Equipment (CPE): Devices or apparatus and their associated wiring (e.g., telephone instruments, jacks and invisible wiring) provided by the customer. Complete ownership and maintenance responsibility of CPE resides with the customer.

Examples of CPE include telephone instruments and telephone key systems, jacks, computers, television sets, inside wiring, and cellular phones.

Inside Wire: wire that runs from the connection point or NID to and including the telephone jacks inside your home or office.

Network Interface Device (NID): also known as the company's Demarcation point.

Demarcation Point - The point of interconnection between the Company communications facilities and terminal equipment, the protective apparatus or wiring at a customer's premises known as the network interface device. The demarcation point is located on the customer's side of the network nterface device or the equivalent therefore where a network interface device is not employed.

NID Indicators:
  • Fixed Telephone Line Service NID is the protector.
  • DSL service NID is the modem. Top

  • Dial Up Internet Service NID is the protector.
